Henry Cavendish was born circa 1549.2,1 He was the son of Rt. Hon. Sir William Cavendish and Elizabeth Hardwicke.3 He married Lady Grace Talbot, daughter of George Talbot, 6th Earl of Shrewsbury and Lady Gertrude Manners.2 He died on 12 October 1616, without legitimate issue.1

Henry Grey, 1st and last Duke of Kent was baptised on 28 September 1671.2 He was the son of Anthony Grey, 11th Earl of Kent and Mary Lucas, Baroness Lucas of Crudwell.2 He married, firstly, Hon. Jemima Crew, daughter of Thomas Crew, 2nd Baron Crew of Stene and Anne Armyne, on 16 April 1695.2 He married, secondly, Lady Sophia Bentinck, daughter of Hans William Bentinck, 1st Earl of Portland and Jane Martha Temple, on 24 March 1728/29.2 He died on 5 June 1740 at age 68.2
He succeeded as the 12th Earl of Kent. He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Lucas of Crudwell, co. Wilts [E., 1663] on 1 November 1700.2 He was created 1st Marquess of Kent [Great Britain] on 14 November 1706.2 He was created 1st Duke of Kent [Great Britain] on 28 April 1710.2 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.)2 He was created 1st Marquess Grey [Great Britain] on 19 May 1740, with a special remainder to his granddaughter Jemima Campbell.2 On his death, the Earldom, Marquessate and Dukedom of Kent, Viscountancy of Goderich and Earldom of Harold all expired.2
