Ralph de Cromwell1

     Ralph de Cromwell was the son of Ralph de Cromwell.2 He married, firstly, Macerie Marmion, daughter of Philip Marmion, 8th of Scrivelsby.3 He married, secondly, Margaret de Somery, daughter of Roger de Somery and Nicole d'Aubigny, before 26 January 1270/71.1 He died before 18 September 1289.1
     He lived at Cromwell, Nottinghamshire, EnglandG.1 He lived at West Hallam, Derbyshire, EnglandG.1 From 1276 to March 1282/83 he was summoned for military service under King Edward I.3

     He fought in the French and Scottish wars.1 He was created 1st Lord Basset of Drayton [England by writ] on 23 June 1295.1

     Jane Peyton was baptised on 16 February 1806 at Kiltubbrid, County Leitrim, IrelandG.1 She was the daughter of Lt.-Col. John Peyton and Mary Anne Reynolds.1 She married John Lambert, son of Walter Lambert and Eliza Persse, before 14 July 1824.1
     From before 14 July 1824, her married name became Lambert.2

Joan de Grey1

     Joan de Grey was the daughter of John de Grey, 2nd Baron Grey (of Wilton) and Matilda de Verdun.1,2 She and Sir Ralph Basset, 2nd Lord Basset of Drayton obtained a marriage license on 27 March 1304.1 She died before 5 April 1353.1
     From 27 March 1304, her married name became Basset.1 On 13 January 1343/44 she had dower.3

Ralph Basset, 3rd Lord Basset of Drayton1

     Ralph Basset, 3rd Lord Basset of Drayton was born circa 1335.1 He was the son of Ralph Basset and Alice Audley.1 He married, secondly, Jeanne de Bretagne, daughter of Jean de Montfort and Jeanne de Flandre.1 He married, firstly, Joan de Beauchamp, daughter of Thomas de Beauchamp, 11th Earl of Warwick and Katherine Mortimer, circa May 1338.1 He died on 10 May 1390, without issue.1 His will (dated 16 January 1389/90) was proven (by probate) on 13 January 1390/91 at Sleaford, Lincolnshire, EnglandG.1 He was buried at Lichfield Cathedral, Lichfield, Staffordshire, EnglandG.1
     He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Basset of Drayton [E., 1295] on 25 February 1342/43.1 He fought in the Battle of Bordeaux on 8 January 1355/56, in the army of the Black Prince.1 He distinguished himself in the various wars with France.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1368.1 On 30 October 1386 he was a deponent in the Scrope and Grosvenor controversy.1 His last will was dated 16 January 1389/90.
     On his death, the Barony Basset of Drayton became dormant, or possibly fell into abeyance between the heirs of his two great-aunts.1
