Adolf Prinz zu Bentheim-Tecklenburg was born on 7 May 1804.1 He was the son of Emil Fürst zu Bentheim-Tecklenburg and Luise Gräfin zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Hohenstein.1 He married Anna Prinzessin Reuss zu Schleiz, daughter of Heinrich LXVII Prinz Reuss zu Schleiz and Adelheid Prinzessin Reuss zu Ebersdorff, on 7 March 1843. He died on 3 September 1874 at age 70.1
