     George Seton, 5th Lord Seton was born in 1531.³ He was the son of George Seton, 4th Lord Seton and Elizabeth Hay.⁴ A contract for the marriage of George Seton, 5th Lord Seton and Isabel Hamilton was signed on 2 August 1550.^3,4 He died on 8 January 1585/86.³
     He was educated at France^G.⁴ He succeeded as the 5th Lord Seton [S., 1451] on 17 July 1549.¹ He partipicated in an ordinance between 1557 and 1559; Provost of Edinburgh.⁴ On 17 December 1557 he was appointed by the Scottish Parliament to attend the marriage of Mary Queen of Scots with the Dauphin of France.⁴ He held the office of Master of the Household to Mary Queen of Scots in 1563.⁴ In 1568 he fled to Low Countries after Mary Queen of Scots defeat at the Battle of Langside.⁴ He was a waggoner between 1568 and 1570.⁴ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in 1573.⁴ He held the office of Scottish Ambassador to France in 1583.⁴

     Lady Henrietta Stuart was born circa 1573. She was the daughter of Esmé Stuart, 1st Duke of Lennox and Catherine de Balsac.^3,1 She married George Gordon, 1st Marquess of Huntly, son of George Gordon, 5th Earl of Huntly and Lady Anne Hamilton, on 21 July 1588.⁴ She died on 2 September 1642.⁴
     After her marriage, Lady Henrietta Stuart was styled as Countess of Huntly on 21 July 1588. From 21 July 1588, her married name became Gordon. After her marriage, Lady Henrietta Stuart was styled as Marchioness of Huntly on 17 April 1599.

     Archibald Douglas, Earl of Angus was born circa 1609.¹ He was the son of William Douglas, 1st Marquess of Douglas and Hon. Margaret Hamilton.¹ He married, firstly, Lady Anne Stuart, daughter of Esmé Stuart, 3rd Duke of Lennox and Katherine Clifton, Baroness Clifton (of Leighton Bromswold), between November 1629 and May 1630.² He married, secondly, Jean Wemyss, daughter of David Wemyss, 2nd Earl of Wemyss and Hon. Anna Balfour, on 26 April 1649.² He was also reported to have been married on 16 August 1630. He died on 16 April 1655 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹ He was also reported to have died on 16 January 1655.³
     He was styled as Lord Douglas between 1613 and 1633.¹ He was styled as Earl of Angus between 1613 and 1633.¹ He was styled as Earl of Angus between 1633 and 1651.¹ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in May 1636.¹ He held the office of Extraordinary Lord of Session [Scotland] between 9 February 1639 and 13 November 1641.¹ Between 1646 and 1653 he succeeded his brother to the command of the Douglas Regiment in France, but spent most of this time in Scotland.² He was created 1st Lord Bothwell and Hartside [Scotland] on 3 April 1651, but also did not pass the Great Seal.¹ He was created 1st Earl of Ormond [Scotland] on 3 April 1651, but did not pass the Great Seal due to Cromwell's invasion of Scotland.¹ He had another son and two daughters by his first wife.³ He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of Nationary Biography.⁴
     

     Colonel Lord James Douglas was born in 1617.² He was the son of William Douglas, 1st Marquess of Douglas and Hon. Margaret Hamilton.¹ He died on 21 October 1645 at Douai, France^G, killed in action.¹ He was buried at St. Germain des Prés, Paris, France^G.¹
     He was also known as William Douglas.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in the Scots Regiment in the French Army.² He fought in the siege of Douai on 21 October 1645.¹

     Lady Anne Stuart was baptised on 23 November 1614 at St. Anne's Church, Blackfriars, London, England^G.¹ She was the daughter of Esmé Stuart, 3rd Duke of Lennox and Katherine Clifton, Baroness Clifton (of Leighton Bromswold).¹ She married Archibald Douglas, Earl of Angus, son of William Douglas, 1st Marquess of Douglas and Hon. Margaret Hamilton, between November 1629 and May 1630.¹ She was also reported to have been married on 16 August 1630. She died on 16 August 1646 at age 31.¹ She was buried at Douglas, Scotland^G.¹
     From 16 August 1630, her married name became Douglas.

     Hon. Anne Hamilton was born between 1660 and 1664. She was the daughter of George Hamilton, 4th Lord Hamilton, Baron of Strabane and Elizabeth Fagan.¹ She married John Browne, son of George Browne and Alicia Bingham, circa 27 May 1680.¹ She died on 14 August 1680, without issue.² She was buried on 17 August 1680.²
     From circa 27 May 1680, her married name became Browne.²

     Katherine Clifton, Baroness Clifton (of Leighton Bromswold) was born circa 1592.² She was the daughter of Sir Gervase Clifton, 1st Lord Clifton (of Leighton Bromswold) and Catherine Darcy.² She married, firstly, Esmé Stuart, 3rd Duke of Lennox, son of Esmé Stuart, 1st Duke of Lennox and Catherine de Balsac, in 1609.³ She married, secondly, James Hamilton, 2nd Earl of Abercorn, son of James Hamilton, 1st Earl of Abercorn and Marion Boyd, circa 1632.² She died on 21 August 1637 at Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland^G.^4,5 She was buried on 17 September 1637 at Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland^G, 'without ceremonie.⁴' Her will was proven (by probate) on 15 January 1638/39.²
     She was also known as Catherine Clifton.² She succeeded as the 2nd Baroness Clifton, of Leighton Bromswold [E., 1608] in October 1618.⁶ After her marriage, Katherine Clifton, Baroness Clifton (of Leighton Bromswold) was styled as Countess of March on 7 June 1619.³ After her marriage, Katherine Clifton, Baroness Clifton (of Leighton Bromswold) was styled as Duchess of Lennox on 16 February 1623/24. After her marriage, Katherine Clifton, Baroness Clifton (of Leighton Bromswold) was styled as Dowager Duchess of Lennox on 30 July 1624.² On 28 November 1632 she obtained a Royal Licence to retain her rank as Duchess of Lennox.⁷ Her last will was dated 12 August 1637.

     Jean Wemyss was born on 19 June 1629.² She was the daughter of David Wemyss, 2nd Earl of Wemyss and Hon. Anna Balfour.¹ She married, firstly, Archibald Douglas, Earl of Angus, son of William Douglas, 1st Marquess of Douglas and Hon. Margaret Hamilton, on 26 April 1649.¹ She married, secondly, George Gordon, 15th Earl of Sutherland, son of John Gordon, 14th Earl of Sutherland and Lady Jean Drummond, on 11 August 1659.¹ She died on 5 January 1715 at age 85.^3,4
     From 26 April 1649, her married name became Douglas. From 11 August 1659, her married name became Gordon.

     David Wemyss, 2nd Earl of Wemyss was born on 6 September 1610.³ He was the son of John Wemyss, 1st Earl of Wemyss and Jean Gray.³ He married, firstly, Hon. Anna Balfour, daughter of Robert Balfour, Lord Balfour of Burleigh and Margaret Balfour, Baroness Balfour of Burleigh, on 4 February 1627.³ He married, secondly, Lady Eleanor Fleming, daughter of John Fleming, 2nd Earl of Wigton and Margaret Livingstone, on 4 April 1650.³ He married, thirdly, Lady Margaret Leslie, daughter of John Leslie, 6th Earl of Rothes and Lady Anne Erskine, on 13 January 1652/53 at Sheriffhall, Scotland^G.⁴ He died after 6 July 1679.³
     He gained the rank of Colonel in 1640/41 in the Fife Foot in Scots Army.³ He fought in the Battle of Tippermuir on 1 September 1644.³ He succeeded as the 2nd Lord Wemyss of Elcho [S., 1628] on 22 November 1649.³ He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Wemyss [S., 1633] on 22 November 1649.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Lord Elcho and Methil [S., 1633] on 22 November 1649.³ He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Wemyss [N.S., 1625] on 22 November 1649.³ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in March 1649/50.³ He held the office of Sheriff of Fife from 1656 to 1657.³ On 23 August 1672 after the death of his last surviving son in 1671, he got a regrant of his peerage honours and lands in favour of his youngest daughter Margaret.³ On his death his baronetcy became dormant.³

     Hon. Anna Balfour was the daughter of Robert Balfour, Lord Balfour of Burleigh and Margaret Balfour, Baroness Balfour of Burleigh.^2,1 She married David Wemyss, 2nd Earl of Wemyss, son of John Wemyss, 1st Earl of Wemyss and Jean Gray, on 4 February 1627.³ She died on 10 November 1649.³
     She was also known as Jean Balfour.² From 4 February 1627, her married name became Wemyss.³
