     Vice-Admiral William Waldegrave, 8th Earl Waldegrave was born on 27 October 1788.1 He was the son of George Waldegrave, 4th Earl Waldegrave and Lady Elizabeth Laura Waldegrave.1,2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Whitbread, daughter of Samuel Whitbread and Lady Elizabeth Grey, on 10 August 1812.1 He married, secondly, Sarah Whitear, daughter of Reverend William Whitear, on 8 December 1846 at London, EnglandG.1 He died on 24 October 1859 at age 70.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Midshipman in 1802 in the Royal Navy.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1806.1 He gained the rank of Commander in 1809.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1811.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1840.1 He retired from the military on 9 November 1842, with the rank of Rear-Admiral.1 He succeeded as the 8th Earl Waldegrave, co. Northampton [G.B., 1729] on 28 September 1846.2 He succeeded as the 8th Viscount Chewton, co. Somerset [G.B., 1729] on 28 September 1846.2 He succeeded as the 12th Baronet Waldegrave, of Hever Castle, Kent [E., 1643]] on 28 September 1846.2 He succeeded as the 9th Baron Waldegrave of Chewton, co. Somerset [E., 1686] on 28 September 1846.2

Margaret Wemyss, Countess of Wemyss

     Margaret Wemyss, Countess of Wemyss was born on 1 January 1658/59.3 She was the daughter of David Wemyss, 2nd Earl of Wemyss and Lady Margaret Leslie.1 She married, firstly, Sir James Wemyss, Lord Burntisland, son of General Sir James Wemyss, on 28 March 1672.1 She married, secondly, George Mackenzie of Tarbat, 1st Earl of Cromarty, son of Sir John Mackenzie of Tarbat, 1st Bt. and Margaret Erskine, on 29 April 1700.1 She died on 11 March 1705 at age 46.1 She was buried on 1 June 1705 at East Wemyss Church, Wemyss, Fife, ScotlandG.4
     From 28 March 1672, her married name became Wemyss. She succeeded as the 3rd Lady Wemyss of Elcho [S., 1628] in July 1679, suo jure.3 She succeeded as the 3rd Countess of Wemyss [S., 1633] in July 1679, suo jure.1 She succeeded as the 3rd Lady Elcho and Methil [S., 1633] in July 1679, suo jure.3 From 29 April 1700, her married name became Mackenzie.

     Lady Eleanor Fleming was the daughter of John Fleming, 2nd Earl of Wigton and Margaret Livingstone. She married David Wemyss, 2nd Earl of Wemyss, son of John Wemyss, 1st Earl of Wemyss and Jean Gray, on 4 April 1650.1 She died on 20 April 1652, without issue.1
     After her marriage, Lady Eleanor Fleming was styled as Countess of Wemyss on 4 April 1650. From 4 April 1650, her married name became Wemyss.1

Florence Blanche Hope Johnstone1

     Florence Blanche Hope Johnstone was the daughter of Captain William George Hope Johnstone and Emily Stead.1 She married Reverend C. Girdwood Thompson in 1890.1 She died in 1942.1

Sir James Wemyss, Lord Burntisland1

     Sir James Wemyss, Lord Burntisland was born circa 1655.2 He was the son of General Sir James Wemyss.3 He married Margaret Wemyss, Countess of Wemyss, daughter of David Wemyss, 2nd Earl of Wemyss and Lady Margaret Leslie, on 28 March 1672.3 He died in December 1682.3
     He was created Lord Burntisland [Scotland] on 15 April 1672, for life only.3
     On his death, his life peerage naturally became extinct.3

     David Wemyss, 4th Earl of Wemyss was baptised on 29 April 1678 at Wemyss, Fife, ScotlandG.2 He was the son of Sir James Wemyss, Lord Burntisland and Margaret Wemyss, Countess of Wemyss.1 He married, firstly, Lady Anne Douglas, daughter of William Douglas, 1st Duke of Queensberry and Lady Isabel Douglas, circa 13 August 1697.3 He married, secondly, Mary Robinson, daughter of Sir John Robinson, 2nd Bt. and Mary Dudley, on 5 January 1708/9.3 He married, thirdly, Elizabeth St. Clair, daughter of Henry St. Clair, 1st/10th Lord Sinclair and Grizel Cockburn, circa 5 July 1716.3 He died on 15 March 1720 at age 41.1
     He was Ensign, Royal Company of Archers in 1703.1 He succeeded as the 4th Earl of Wemyss [S., 1633] on 11 March 1705.1 He succeeded as the 4th Lord Elcho and Methil [S., 1633] on 11 March 1705.1 He succeeded as the 4th Lord Wemyss of Elcho [S., 1628] on 11 March 1705.1 He was Commissioner for the Union of Scottish and English Parliaments from 1706 to 1707.1 He held the office of Lord High Admiral [Scotland] from March 1705/6 to 1707.1 He held the office of Vice-Admiral [Scotland] in 1707.1 He held the office of Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1707 and 1710.1

     James Wemyss, 5th Earl of Wemyss was born on 30 August 1699.1 He was the son of David Wemyss, 4th Earl of Wemyss and Lady Anne Douglas.1 He married Janet Charteris, daughter of Colonel Francis Charteris and Helen Swinton, on 4 October 1720.2 He and Janet Charteris were separated after 1732.1 He died on 21 March 1756 at age 56.1
     He was admitted to Royal Company of Archers in 1714.1 He succeeded as the 5th Lord Wemyss of Elcho [S., 1628] on 15 March 1720.1 He succeeded as the 5th Earl of Wemyss [S., 1633] on 15 March 1720.1 He succeeded as the 5th Lord Elcho and Methil [S., 1633] on 15 March 1720.1 He held the office of Burgess of Perth in 1726.1 In 1750 he sold the Elcho estates to his son Francis for £8,500.1 On 31 July 1750 the Earl made over Wemyss Castle and its associated estates to his 3rd son James, who became Representer of Wemyss of Wemyss on his father's death.3

     Lady Anne Douglas was the daughter of William Douglas, 1st Duke of Queensberry and Lady Isabel Douglas.1 She married David Wemyss, 4th Earl of Wemyss, son of Sir James Wemyss, Lord Burntisland and Margaret Wemyss, Countess of Wemyss, circa 13 August 1697.1 She died on 23 February 1699/0, after her clothing caught fire while she was praying.1
     From circa 13 August 1697, her married name became Wemyss.

Mary Robinson1

     Mary Robinson was the daughter of Sir John Robinson, 2nd Bt. and Mary Dudley.2 She married David Wemyss, 4th Earl of Wemyss, son of Sir James Wemyss, Lord Burntisland and Margaret Wemyss, Countess of Wemyss, on 5 January 1708/9.1 She died between 17 July 1711 and 8 September 1712, without issue.1
     After her marriage, Mary Robinson was styled as Countess of Wemyss on 5 January 1708/9. From 5 January 1708/9, her married name became Wemyss.
