The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office’s (FCDO) Research Commissioning Centre is delighted to announce an early market engagement session for an upcoming commission. The evidence on evidence use programme aims to enhance understanding of the use of evidence in policymaking by interrogating the underlying factors that influence government decision-making and evaluating interventions to support evidence use.

The 2024 forum, hosted by UNICEF in partnership with WFP, carried forward the momentum from 2023 WFP event. It brought together participants from UNICEF, WFP, other United Nations agencies, governments, donors, non-governmental organizations, philanthropies and academia, who used the opportunity to showcase impact evidence from climate-prone and poly-crisis environments, learn from each other’s experiences and identify concrete areas of potential collaboration on impact evaluation. An increased focus was placed on ensuring participation from low- and middle-income countries.

The Semana de la Evidencia (Evidence Week) is an initiative born in 2016 from the (former) Alianza Peruana para el Uso de la Evidencia, a local alliance of researchers and practitioners in the field of evidence-informed policymaking (EIPM). These weeklong events are held in multiple locations, achieving greater participation and awareness of the importance of promoting EIPM and strengthening research capacities in the Latin American region.

The Global Evidence Commitment signatories are holding an IDB-hosted event on 21 October to discuss the promise and progress of the pledge.

Fragile Lives 2024 is an international expert conference on the use of rigorous, scientific evidence for the development of knowledge-based policy interventions in fragile, conflict-affected and under-developed settings. The conference is being hosted in Berlin, Germany on October 1 & 2 2024. It is organized jointly by the Zero Hunger Lab of Humboldt-University of Berlin with IRI THESys and Leibniz Institute of Vegetables and Ornamental Crops (IGZ).
