Gordon Abekah-Nkrumah

Gordon Abekah-Nkrumah is an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Administration and Health Services Management, University of Ghana Business School. He holds a PhD in Development Policy and Management (University of Manchester), an Mphil in Health Services Management (University of Ghana) and a Bsc. in Business Administration, Accounting option (University of Ghana). Gordon’s research focuses on understanding contemporary development policy issues, including health systems and health systems financing, gender and household health, poverty and inequality and lately food security governance. Gordon’s doctoral research involved the use of advanced econometric techniques to examine the effect of gender and social norms on women and children’s health in 20 Sub-Saharan African countries using household datasets (specifically, the Demographic and Health Surveys Data). Gordon is also a researcher with the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC). In addition to his academic career, Gordon has a rich consulting experience, both domestically and internationally. Gordon has worked extensively with the Health Sector in Ghana on Public Financial Management and Public Expenditure Tracking issues. At the international front, Gordon has worked with UNDAF (WFP, FAO, UNICEF, UNFPA and WHO), DFID, DANIDA, Ecroys and IFAD on Public Financial Management, Aid Architecture, Food Security and Poverty issues.
