The 1st Embed With Linux
(EWiLi) mini-Workshop

(May the 11th,afternoon)

Submission deadline: February 8th 2011

Jointly organized with the Machine Architecture Symposium SympA'14, the French Conference on Operating Systems CFSE 8 and the french meeting on Parallelism Renpar

The first edition of the mini workshop "Embed With Linux!" (EWiLi'11) is a joint event that will take place during the RenPar/SympA/CFSE
The workshop lasts half a day and is integrated to SympA and CFSE conferences programs.

Workshop Presentation

During the few last years, the Linux operating system has progressively been positioned as a strong alternative to proprietary and/or commercial solutions in the embedded domain, whether it is deeply embedded (for instance behind a virtual machine) or not, for application domains such as multimedia (set top boxes), telephony, transports, etc.

The purpose of this workshop is to present research work, experimentations, significant and original realizations that lie upon the implementation of an embedded Linux in both academic and industrial projects.

This workshop also intends to be a meeting place for both industrial and academic partners.

Workshop Topics

The expected contributions include but are not limited to the following topics:
  • Embedded Linux and education
  • Embedded Linux and reconfigurable architectures
  • Linux and MPSOC
  • Methods, software and tool chains
  • Data management and memory hierarchy optimization
  • Real time, scheduling and temporal performance
  • File systems and I/Os in embedded Linux
  • Energy and power optimization in embedded Linux
  • Debug and profiling
  • Case studies and application projects
  • Performance evaluation and optimization

Invited Keynote

Dr. John Williams of the university of Queensland (Brisbane) and founder of Petalogix (Petalinux: first Linux solution for Microblaze softcore on FPGAs) is invited to give a keynote on Embedded Linux and reconfigurable architectures.
