9 may 2013 - Portland, Steel Bridge. Built in 1912, this is the second oldest vertical lift bridge in the US. The lower level is used by trains, while the upper level consists of light rail tracks separated from a lane of traffic on each side. Horsecars used an earlier bridge in this same place from 1888r, while streetcars used this current bridge from it opening until 1948. Trolleybuses appeared on this bridge briefly between 1937 and 1949, while MAX light rail has been using it since 1986.
