| Other Information | Reading Transport is the council-owned bus operator of buses in the city of Reading. It was set up in October 1901 as the operator of horse trams and later electric trams. The first buses entered service in 1919. In 1936 trolleybuses also entered service in the city, these operated until 1968. In 1992 Reading Transport acquired the Beeline operations in Reading and Newbury, these had previously been part of Alder Valley. The operations of Reading Transport have expanded outside of the city of Reading since the end of 2017. First with the takeover of Greenline service between Bracknell and London from First Berkshire. In 2018 the operation of Newbury & District was also taken over, this was owned by Weavaway. Six months later, in March 2019, the Bracknell based Courtney Buses was purchased. For operations around Slough, Windsor and Bracknell the brand name Thames Valley Buses has been introduced in January 2018, referring to the company Thames Valley Traction that used to exist in this area. The company has depots in Bracknell (Thames Valley), Newbury (Newbury & District) and Reading (Reading Buses). | |||
