Other Information | The companies routes date back to 1983 when Bristol Omnibus Company transferred their Gloucestershire-based operation to Cheltenham & Gloucester Omnibus Company. In 1985 Swindon & District was also transferred to this company and in 1986 the entire company became a new legal entity; Western Travel. In 1987 the company bought Midland Red South. In 1992 the Wye & Dean area operations of National Welsh were placed under operation of Western Travel. In 1993 Western Travel was sold to Stagecoach. In October 2019, Stagecoach took over the South Gloucestershire Bus & Coach business including 53 buses and coaches, this was incorporated into Stagecoach West. In 2021 Stagecoach`s Oxfordshire operation was merged with Stagecoach West, with Gloucester becoming the headquarters. With this transfer 500 buses joined the Stagecoach West operation. Depots: - Banbury (former Stagecoach Midlands/Oxfordshire) - Bristol (Patchway) (former South Gloucestershire) - Cheltenham - Gloucester - Oxford (former Stagecoach Oxfordshire) - Ross-on-Wye - Stroud - Swindon - Witney (former Stagecoach Oxfordshire) There are also outstations at Bicester, Coleford, Chipping Norton and Grove. |
