WHAT IS IT?

This is a simple model that illustrates that total energy in a closed system is conserved. In this model, a ball has been allowed to fall freely (under gravity), hits the ground and bounces back. The energy variation of the ball has been simulated in this model.

HOW IT WORKS

As the ball falls down the gravitational potential energy (GPE) decreases while the kinetic energy (KE) increases and vice cersa (when it goes up). However total energy is conserved.

HOW TO USE IT

Press the setup button to setup the environment and then the go button to run the simulation.

EXTENDING THE MODEL

Here factors like energy loss due to air-friction and energy loss while in contact with the ground has been neglected. In the future model, these factors could be taken into consideration.
