EAmpio greto di fondovalle alpino, con presenza di divagazioni del torrente, aree ricolonizzate da vegetazione arborea e arbustiva, nonchè compresenza di piccoli ambienti umidi e xerici. Vasta area di fondovalle priva di insediamenti industriali e di edilizia residenziale.

4.2 Quality and importance

La Stura è considerata uno dei cinque ultimi fiumi naturali dell'intero arco alpino (l'unico in Italia), con popolamenti ittici e di macro invertebrati eccezionali (EBI = 11/12). Sorgenti carsiche con invertebrati stigoblonti, 6 habitat di interesse comunitario.
